Who We Are

MID-HUDSON POWER SQUADRON

A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO
SAIL AND POWER BOATING AND MARITIME
EDUCATION

WHO WE ARE

MHPS members own powerboats, sailboats, houseboats, personal watercraft, rowboats, canoes and kayaks.  Some don't even own a boat but have an abiding passion to learn more about boating and nautical science.  With over 125 members, MHPS is one of the larger USPS squadrons in the northeast.

Our members are active cruisers and have sailed not only on the Hudson River but the entire Atlantic coast, the Great Lakes, the NY canals, the Gulf of Mexico, Bahamas, and various islands in the Caribbean.

What we do
The primary mission of  MHPS is boating education and safety.  Our course instructors include former Navy officers, mechanics, computer experts, business owners, and teachers.  All willingly share their skills.  The primary mission of MHPS is boating safety and education.

VESSEL SAFETY CHECKS
In conjunction with the US Coast Guard and US Coast Guard Auxiliary, MHPS conducts voluntary Vessel Safety Checks to verify the presence and condition of certain safety equipment required by state and federal regulations.  Vessels passing inspection are given the nationally recognized VSC decal.

Parent Organization

Mid-Hudson Power Squadron is a unit of the United States Power Squadrons.  Which was founded in 1914, the United States Power Squadrons is America's largest boating educational organization, with more than 50,000 members in over 450 squadrons.

By completing a better boating course you could be eligible for a lower rate on your boat insurance.
