WHO WE ARE
MHPS members own powerboats, sailboats,
houseboats, personal watercraft, rowboats, canoes and
kayaks. Some don't even own a boat but have an abiding
passion to learn more about boating and nautical
science. With over 125 members, MHPS is one of the
larger USPS squadrons in the northeast.
Our members are active cruisers and have sailed not only on
the Hudson River but the entire Atlantic coast, the Great
Lakes, the NY canals, the Gulf of Mexico, Bahamas, and
various islands in the Caribbean.
What
we do
The primary mission of
MHPS is boating education and safety. Our course
instructors include former Navy officers, mechanics,
computer experts, business owners, and teachers. All
willingly share their skills. The primary mission of

VESSEL
SAFETY CHECKS
In conjunction with
the US Coast Guard and US Coast Guard Auxiliary, MHPS
conducts voluntary Vessel Safety Checks to verify the
presence and condition of certain safety equipment required
by state and federal regulations. Vessels passing
inspection are given the nationally recognized
VSC decal.

is America's largest boating educational organization, with
more than 50,000 members in over 450 squadrons.
