What: The
Squadron/Boating Club Annual Rendezvous On The Water
Where:
Ed Weber's home on the Hudson
231 Tilden Street, Port Ewen NY
Uniform: Casual
Events: There should access to kayaks
for the
afternoon.
Menu: Bring your own meat for
grilling. Corn will
be provided.
Cost: None
RSVP: No need to RSVP
Directions:
By Road:
From Rt 9W in Port Ewen turn East
on Main St (by Stewart Shop). At the bottom
of the hill (Stop Sign) turn right on Tilden
St. Ed's drive is the 6th on the left from
Main St. (231 Tilden St) But it is confusing
to count driveways and most house numbers
are partly hidden. So Ed has promised to
place the following distinctive sign at the
end of his drive, thereby marking 231 Tilden
Street:

Parking:
In Ed's driveway till it is full. Since
Tilden street is a dead end there is
negligible traffic and no problem parking
any where on Tilden St. But his neighbor
directly across the street gets unhappy if
he can't make the "U" turn out of his
driveway. So the exception is don't park on
the East side for about 2-3 car lengths
south of my drive.
Call 845-331-4083 to request the golf car to
give you a ride to the shore.
By Boat: 231 Tilden St, Port Ewen
is about 1 mi south of Rondout creek.
Proceed at 252 deg Magnetic from Can #71 to
the dock. Beware do not go north of 254 deg
Magnetic (can #71 to flag pole just north of
dock) as there are submerged
ruins close to shore. All clear if away from
shore over 150 ft. Note at normal low tide
the water depth is only 3 ft at the dock.
Sometimes there are significant wakes so it
is not advisable to stay at the dock
unattended. Instead drop an anchor or tie to
the stern of either the "Estuary Steward" or
the "Sea Serpent" which are moored a couple
hundred feet from shore. A dinghy can take
you to shore. If no one notices you, call on
Ch 9 or 845-331-4083. |
