Take
"The Squadron Boating Course" by the Mid-Hudson Power
Squadron.
Mid-Hudson Power
Squadron serves the Dutchess and Ulster County areas of NY
with the Hudson River nearby where many club members are seen
boating with their kayaks, canoes, jet skis, sail, paddle and power
boats. Also, during the months of April, May and June of each
year some members are even found fishing from their boats or
alongshore for the coveted striped bass in these
world-class spawning grounds.
Mid-Hudson is
one of 19 squadrons in
District 2. Each squadron is a unit of the United States Power Squadrons®
"American's Boating Club" with headquarters in Raleigh, N.C. Our
National publication is called
The
Ensign. This national non-profit organization founded in 1914
is dedicated to safer boating through education with MHPS being
chartered in 1926 (see "History" page for details). Our members
share a common interest in boating even though all members DO NOT
own boats. We meet socially the third Wednesday of each month at
different area restaurants (see "Calendar" page for details). In
addition, the club goes cruising several times a year from May
through November. Our "Photo Gallery" page shows some previous
Rendezvous.
The Triangle to
the right shows our three areas of primary interest. The
"Education" page shows the many courses available to our members as
well as classes offered to the public as a part of our Civic
Service. Additional civic contributions include free "Vessel Safety
Checks" as well as collecting information about local waters to
assist NOAA in upgrading nautical charts.
That's who we are and
what we do - thank you for taking the time to learn more about
